BOTOX
What is Botulinum Toxin and How Does It Work?
Botulinum Toxin is a neurotoxic protein produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum.
In medical aesthetics, it is used in extremely small, purified doses to temporarily block the
nerve signals to specific muscles.
When injected into a muscle, it prevents the release of acetylcholine, a chemical
messenger that tells muscles to contract. As a result, the targeted muscle remains relaxed,
which helps reduce the appearance of dynamic wrinkles — lines caused by repeated facial
movements such as frowning, squinting, or raising the eyebrows.
The effects are localized, temporary (typically lasting 3–4 months), and do not affect
surrounding areas when administered correctly.
Aesthetic Uses of Botox
1. Forehead Lines:

Botox works by relaxing the frontalis muscle, the main muscle responsible for horizontal forehead lines. With precision placement, we calm the over activity without freezing your expressions — the result is a refreshed, youthful look that still feels like you
2. Frown Lines (Glabellar complex):

Reduces the “11” lines between the brows, giving a calmer, more approachable look.
3. Crow’s Feet:

Softens fine lines around the eyes caused by smiling or squinting.
4. Brow Lift:

Subtle lift to the eyebrows by relaxing downward-pulling muscles, creating a more open, refreshed eye.
5. Bunny Lines:

Diminishes crinkling on the sides of the nose when smiling or laughing.
6. Gummy Smile Correction:

A beautiful smile is all about balance — when too much of the upper gum shows while smiling, it can take away from the harmony of your facial features. Known as a gummy smile, this condition can be effortlessly refined with Botox. At Elegantè Aesthetics, we use precise, minimal Botox injections to gently relax the muscles that lift the upper lip, allowing it to rest lower when you smile — creating a more proportionate and graceful smile.
Ideal For
- Clients who feel their smile shows too much gum
- Those seeking a subtle yet transformative enhancement
- Individuals not ready for surgical solutions like lip repositioning
7. Lip Flip:

Enhances the upper lip by relaxing the orbicularis oris, allowing the lip to curl outward subtly.
A Lip Flip is for those who want a naturally fuller-looking pout — without fillers. By delicately relaxing the muscles around the upper lip using a small amount of Botox, we allow the lip to gently roll outward, creating the illusion of a more voluminous and defined shape.
Who It’s For?
- Clients with a thin upper lip that disappears while smiling
- Anyone wanting a natural alternative to lip filler
- Those seeking a delicate refresh rather than dramatic change
8. Smoker’s Lines (Perioral Lines):

The fine vertical lines around the lips — often called smoker’s lines — can appear over time due to repetitive movements like talking, sipping, or simply smiling. Though the name suggests otherwise, you don’t need to smoke to get them.
At Elegantè Aesthetics, we treat these lines with precisely administered Botox to relax the tiny muscles around the mouth, softening etched-in lines and restoring the smoothness of your natural lip border.
9. Masseter Slimming (Jawline Contouring):

The masseter muscles — responsible for chewing — can become enlarged due to stress, teeth grinding (bruxism), or genetics. Botox relaxes these overactive muscles, gradually slimming the lower face without surgery.
10. Platysmal Bands (Neck Rejuvenation):

Softens vertical neck bands and improves jawline definition.
Therapeutic Uses of Botox in the Head & Neck Region
“Beyond beauty — restoring comfort and balance.”
1.Chronic Migraine Relief:
FDA-approved use for migraine sufferers. Injections in specific scalp, temple, and neck areas help reduce frequency and severity.
2.Bruxism (Teeth Grinding):
Injected into the masseter or temporalis muscles to relieve jaw tension, prevent dental damage, and reduce pain.
3.Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) Disorder:
Relaxes the jaw muscles, reducing clenching and TMJ-related discomfort.
4. Neck Spasms (Cervical Dystonia):
Treats involuntary neck muscle contractions, improving posture and comfort.
5. Facial Tics & Hemifacial Spasm:
Reduces involuntary muscle movements or twitching on one side of the face.
6. Hyperhidrosis (Excessive Sweating):
Used in the scalp or neck area to control localized excessive sweating.
Post-Botox Precautions
• Stay upright for at least 4–6 hours after the treatment
• Gently move your facial muscles (smile, frown, raise eyebrows) — this can help the Botox settle in
• Use cold compresses if needed to reduce minor swelling or redness
What to Avoid:
• No lying down, bending forward, or sleeping flat for 4–6 hours
• Avoid touching, massaging, or applying pressure to the treated areas for 24 hours
• Skip makeup, facials, or skincare treatments for at least 24 hours
• Avoid heavy exercise, heat exposure (like saunas or steam rooms), and alcohol for 24–48 hours
Why Botox Works Better with Consistency
When Botox is used regularly over time, its effects often become more refined and longerlasting. This happens due to a combination of muscle retraining and preventive action:
1. Muscle Conditioning
Repeated Botox treatments gradually weaken the overactive muscles responsible for dynamic wrinkles. As these muscles are trained to stay relaxed, they contract less forcefully over time, leading to softer lines and longer intervals between treatments.
2. Prevention of Deep Wrinkles
By reducing muscle movement early and consistently, Botox helps prevent lines from becoming etched into the skin. This means that even when the Botox wears off, the skin appears smoother than it would have without treatment.
3. Reduced Product Requirement
Many consistent Botox users find that over time, less product is needed to maintain the same results, because the muscles respond more efficiently to lower doses. Staying consistent with Botox isn’t just about maintenance — it’s about training your facial muscles for long-term aesthetic benefit and slowing down the visible signs of aging in a natural, progressive way
